A recent Mac (10.6.x) Java update has caused some users to experience trouble when uploading to InSite. Uploads started will fail before completion. There are a couple of simple things that can be done to trouble shoot and fix this problem.
First of all make sure your browser is running in 32 bit mode. Here are links to instructions for turning on 32 bit for both Safari and Firefox. Note that as of this post the only Safari 5.0 and Firefox 3.1 are fully supported by InSite.
If you are still experience issues uploading to InSite after setting your browser to 32 bit mode you should next check your Java Preferences. Here’s how:
1. Open Java Preferences located in your Mac HD / Applications / Utilities folder.

On the General tab of the Java preferences tab you should see two versions of Java SE 6 listed. In the CPU-Type column you will see both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The 32-bit version needs to be listed above the 64-bit version ! If it is not then select and drag the 64-bit version below the 32-bit version. This will assign priority to the 32-bit version.

Optional. If you are still having trouble uploading you can clear your Java cache. This can be done from the Network tab of the Java Preferences dialog box by clicking on Delete Files. When the popup dialog box opens make sure to check Applications and Applets and Trace and Log Files then click OK.

After completing these steps it is recommended that you restart your browsers before trying to upload to InSite again. Note that if you followed the steps to clear the Java cache in step three you could be prompted to trust a security applet when you click the upload files button. Make sure you always click yes when asked to trust this applet.
Note: The drag and drop feature in the upload dialog box may not work. If you encounter this click the “Add Files” button instead of dragging and dropping your files.
